GMail Disk

Author: mety Labels::

Ever since Google started to offer users a GMail e-mail account, which includes storage space of a 1000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. With GMail Disk you can easily copy files to your GMail account and retrieve them again with GMail Disk.

  • When you create a new file using GMail Disk, GMail Disk generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Disk periodically checks your mail account (using the GMail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. But basically GMail Disk acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer. You can copy files to and from the GMail Disk folder simply by using drag'n'drop like you're used to with the normal Explorer folders.
  • GMail Disk creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google GMail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your GMail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Disk literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to.

  • Because the GMail files will clutter up your Inbox folder, you may wish to create a filter in GMail to automatically move the files (prefixed with the GMAILFS letters in the subject) to your archived mail folder.

  • Please note that GMail Disk is still an experimental tool. There's still a number of limitations of the file-system (such as total filename size must be less than 40 characters). Since the tool hooks up with the free GMail Service provided by Google, changes in the GMail system may break the tools ability to function. I cannot guarantee that files stored in this manner will be accessible in the future.

Make, customize your own favorite’s links and view them in the link toolbar

Author: mety Labels:: ,

These instructions are based on Windows
Create a folder to store in. Place it in Favorites folder to be viwe it in Links bar in Internet Explorer

Check that your links bar is showing first, though, by right clicking on your toolbar and checking it if there is no tick next to it:
Next, go to Favourites, find Links, right click on it and choose open. Then create a new folder in the window that is opened.
In the favelets page, click on the favelet that you want to store and drag it onto the favelets folder
You will get a message that says the link may be unsafe - click OK to accept this
Then, all you need to do is use your favelet. Go to the site that you want to check (making sure it's not a frameset - these tools do not work on framed pages), then select your favelet from the list
Depending on the favelet chosen, the information may appear in the same window or in a new window.
Other tips:
You can create favelets in other locations, using a similar method - for example, drag and drop the link to your desktop. Then you can run the favelet by dragging it from your desktop back on to a page.
Likewise, you can save these anywhere else on your favourites, but I just like the convenience of having the tool right there at the top.

Connecting To The Internet (video)

Author: mety Labels::

VideoJug: Connecting To The Internet
How do I choose the best Internet Service Provider ISP for my needs?
A good place to check for ISPs is DSLReports.com. If you go there, you can see what other users have experienced with various ISPs. All you have to do is punch in your zip code. You will see reports from actual users with the experiences they've had with ISPs in that area, and that's the best way you can really find out how good of a stability/connection you're going to have, or the rates. There are so many Internet Service Providers, and depending on where you are, one may be a lot better than the other.
How relevant is the data transfer rate in choosing an ISP?
The data transfer rate is really important because ISPs can make claims that you can have a certain download speed and they may sell that speed to you. But depending on where you are you may not be abe to realize those speeds. Those are theoretical speeds. Especially if you are using DSL, how close you are to the central office will make an impact on the speed that you can actually receive. So, to know what your actual data transfer speeds will be is very important.
What is the difference between "upstream" and "downstream" data transfer rates?
Downstream refers to the information that you receive from the internet. When you download a file, that is considered downstream because you are downloading information from the internet to your computer. Upstream is the reverse of downstream. Upstream is information that you send from your computer over the internet. When you send an email to somebody, or you send an attachment to somebody, that is using your upstream to send it, and it's using downstream when you receive an email or an attachment.
What is a "Digital Subscriber Line" (DSL)?
DSL stands for “digital subscriber line”, and it's the technology that enables you to connect to the Internet. It's a broadband technology, but it uses your phone line, so you can use your existing phone line. With DSL, you can have one telephone line, talking on that telephone line while you're connected to the Internet. The DSL modem will allow that connection to happen simultaneously, so you'll be always connected to the Internet 24 hours a day, whenever you want to get online, and it will not interrupt your phone service.
Does my cable company provide Internet service?
Yes, most cable companies do provide Internet service and it shares the same line that comes in for your cable television. So the coaxial cable that comes into your home for your cable can be split out to a cable modem and you can use a cable modem to get really, really fast Internet service to your computers.
What is a "protocol"?
Protocol is basically a language that allows devices to talk to each other. It's basically a grammar for technologies. Without a protocol, two different computers or two different networks would not know what they're talking about when one requests information from the other. Protocol is basically a language or grammar.
What is an "IP"?
"IP" is Internet Protocol. So basically, it's the grammar of the Internet. Information that you receive or send over the Internet, all that is IP Protocol, Internet Protocol.
What is a "cable modem"?
A cable modem is a box that you get from your cable company that attaches to your actual cable that is coming in for your cable service. That basically gives you your internet service through the cable providers. A cable modem is a device that you attach to your computer or to your local network that will give you internet access to all the machines in your home or business.
What kind of cables do I need to connect to the internet?
It depends on the type of connection you have. If you have a cable modem you are generally going to have a coaxial cable coming in and an Ethernet cable (also known as an RJ45 cable) that goes from the cable modem to your network. If you have a DSL modem then you would basically have the phone line going into the DSL modem and again an Ethernet or RJ45 cable coming from the DSL modem to your computer or network.

How many USB ports should I look for in a new computer?
New computers will generally come with two or three USB ports in them, but it doesn't take long to fill those ports up. You definitely want to buy a USB hub if you're going to use any type of external peripherals. Most of them are USB now. So USB cameras, USB keyboards, mice, printers those all fill up your USB ports really quickly. Thus, it's not a bad idea to get a USB hub and that USB hub will plug into one of the existing USB ports to give you additional USB ports to plug in your peripherals.
What does it mean when a drive is "bus powered"?
A bus powered drive is a drive that does not require a power supply. The cable that connects the bus powered drive to the computer provides power to the drive and that same cable provides data transfer.
A PCI bus slot is a slot on a computer desktop machine that gives you expansion capabilities. When you buy a computer, you want to have a desktop machine that has at least two, if not What is a "PCI Bus Slot"?
three, extra PCI slots that will give you room for expansion. Later down the line, you can add another video card or a network card. Those are all PCI cards, and if you have extra expansion slots, you really give yourself room to grow down the line.
How many PCI Bus Slots should I look for when buying a tower?
If you're buying a new machine and you're going to do any type of audio or video or advanced networking, you want to have extra PCI Slots available. Without the PCI Slots, you limit yourself in how you can expand your system. PCI Slots will allow you to plug in extra video or network cards, and really give your system the flexibility to grow or to make any changes.
What is a "Serial Advanced Technology Attachment" (SATA)?
A serial advanced technology attachment is a new technology that is in most modern computers. It is a faster interface for hard drives that replaces ATA or PATA hard drives. The SATA provides expanded bandwith necessary for increased fast disk access.
What is the difference between an AGP card and a PCI slot?
A PCI is an older slot used for graphics cards. AGP is a newer one, and there is even a newer one than that which is PC Express. Between the PCI and AGP, if you have a choice, you always want to go with AGP. AGP is a faster graphics card system and it allow the graphics card to talk to the processor at a much higher rate than the PCI graphics card could.

Computer Printers And Ink (video)

VideoJug: Computer Printers And Ink
What is an "inkjet" printer?
An inkjet printer is a printer that comes with different ink cartridges you have a black ink cartridge a color some of them are individual ink tanks basically the ink is sprayed on to the paper versus a laser printer where it uses heat to put the toner ink onto the paper. An inkjet printers will cost less when you buy them but the cost of the inks are little higher so that's were the manufacturers make their money on inkjet printers on the ink. They basically give the printers away for really really cheap you know almost the cost knowing that when you buy the ink cartridges that's were they can going to make the money.
What is a "laserjet" printer?
A laser printer verses a ink jet printer, is a printer that uses toner cartridges instead of ink to print on the paper. You pay more upfront for a laser printer and they are generally higher performance and higher volume printers than the ink jet. The cost per page is a lot less on a laser printer than it is on a ink jet printer.
What is a "multi-function" printer?
A multi-function printer is a printer that has a fax machine, a scanner, a copier and a printer all integrated into one. The advantage of a multi-function printer is that you have those devices in one small area. However, the problem with that is usually when you have one small problem with the multi-function device, it renders the whole thing unusable.
What kind of printer ink is the best bargain for the money?
The best bargain for printer ink would be the generic inks. You can find them online for really cheap prices. The problem is, some ink qualities are not as good as the original manufacturers, and with bargain ink, sometimes it can actually clog the printer heads. Once the printer heads are clogged on ink jet printers, it's generally time to chuck the printer, because the price of repairing them exceeds the cost of replacing the printer.
Can I buy a wireless travel printer?
Yes, you can buy wireless travel printers. There are a variety of models out there that you can hook up via Bluetooth, or via 82.11b or g wireless technologies. Most laptops do come with the wireless built into them. If you buy a printer that does have that wireless card inside it, you can print wirelessly.
Why do I need to buy the right printer paper?
The type of paper you use really is important because if you're printing photographs you need to make sure the paper does not spread the ink over the paper, and if you buy regular paper that you use to print documents with, they have a lot of fiber in them, and that fiber will take the ink and basically spread it all over. If you want high quality pictures, you want them to last a long time, you don't want them to fade, or you need them to be waterproof, then they do make specialty papers that are designed specifically for that application, and you can totally tell the difference when you print a photo on a high quality photo paper versus regular copy paper.
What kind of paper should I buy for printing photos?
If you're going to be printing your photos, you want to get photo quality paper. They do come in a variety of thicknesses and weights. You want to make sure, if you're using a manufacturer such as Epson or HP or Canon, because they do make their own papers that have been matched to the ink that they produce, to give you the optimal picture quality.
Does my new printer come with ink?
The printers do come with ink, but sometimes the ink is not full capacity. So when you buy a printer, the ink cartridges may have less ink in them than when you buy new replacement cartridges. The level of ink will be different. Usually the kit that comes with a printer will have lower capacity inks in them.

Computer Monitors video

VideoJug: Computer Monitors
What factors should I consider when choosing a monitor?
Well, the first thing you need to determine when choosing a monitor is if you want to get a CRT monitor or an LCD monitor. CRTs are the old big clunkers, cathode ray tubes. LCDs are the nice, flat panel liquid crystal displays. There are a lot fewer emissions on the LCDs so they're easier on your eyes, as well as being better for the environment; they use less power. Then, of course, you want to look at the resolution that the monitor can support. With higher resolution, you'll get a crisper image. It'll be sharper with less strain on your eye. However, on the same note, you need to make sure that your computer can drive the resolution of your screen. You can buy a really high end screen, which can be really high resolution, but your computer's graphic card may not be able to output that resolution.
What is the difference between "CRT" and "LCD"?
The CRT or cathode ray-tube monitor is the old style big television looking behemoth that sits on your desk. The LCD liquid crystal displays are the new flat panels. A lot less energy used on the LCDs, less desk space, less power consumption, and overall now the quality of the LCD has gotten so good that it rivals CRT monitors. So, everything right now seems to be transitioning toward LCDs and the CRTs are pretty much gone. Except for some graphic design use you really don't see CRTs anymore.
What can I expect to pay for a monitor?
For LCD monitors, if you started at a 15" monitor, you should be able to get it for about $120, $130. 17" LCD would be about $170. Once you go up to the 20", 23", 24" you can still get them for between $700 and $1000.
What type of monitor connections should I look for?
Most computers now have monitors that attach to them via these monitor connections - a DVI cable, a VGA cable or HDMI cable. I would say about 9% of the time it would be DVI or VGA. DVI stands for Digital Video Interface and is a digital cable, whereas VGA is an analog cable. So if you can, you would always want to go with a DVI connection over a VGA connection, as your image will be a lot crisper. HDMI is High Definition Multimedia Interface, and is a cable that carries both video and sound through it. Most televisions – high definition televisions – will have that input. If your computer does have an HDMI output, you can connect your computer to a television that supports HDMI and carry that signal and sound.

Computer Hardware And Peripherals video

Author: mety Labels::

VideoJug: Computer Hardware And Peripherals

What is a "peripheral"?
A peripheral is any device that you hook up to your computer. Examples of peripherals are: a printer, a USB hub, or a keyboard and a mouse.
What peripherals and software do I need to buy with my new computer system?
Typically, when you buy a new machine, the peripherals that you need to buy with the computer are a printer, a surge protector, CD's, DVDs, ink cartridges for your printer and USB hubs to expand the amount of ports you have on your computer.
What components should get the bulk of my computer investment?
You shouldn't skimp on your monitor; you shouldn't skimp on your printer. Those are the two items you are going to be sitting in front of looking at the screen. You want to make sure you get a really nice one. And when you print out your pictures or your documents you want to get sharp crisp results. And you don't want to skimp on the printer either.
Why is it a good idea to buy an extra hard drive?
Extra hard drives have a couple of benefits. One is that you have a lot more storage space for the multimedia rich applications nowadays; videos, music, and mp3's, which all take up a lot of hard drive space. If you have two hard drives you can offload all your multimedia data on to that hard drive or you can use that other hard drive as a back up medium.
Do I need to purchase additional software with a CD/DVD burner?
Generally speaking, you do not need to purchase additional software with a CD/DVD burner. Most current operating systems will be able to load the drivers for the optical drive that you buy. Some of the more advanced CD/DVD burners have some custom applications that do require specialized software and you can either buy that software on after market programs or the software will be included with the optical drive when you buy it.
When considering a hard drive, how important is speed?
The speed of the hard drive really only comes into play if you're using applications that demand high-intensive disk access. For video editing, for gaming and for databases that need to be accessed really quickly, you'd want to get a 720 RPM hard drive. Other than that, for general office applications, internet browsing and email, a 540 RPM drive is just fine.
Which peripherals have the most mark-up?
Peripherals that carry the most mark-up are definitely cables. In all varities, not just USB cables or Firewire cables. Even surge-protectors and UPS back-up systems carry pretty hefty mark-ups.

Computer Memory And Storage video

Author: mety Labels::

VideoJug: Computer Memory And Storage

What is "Random Access Memory" (RAM)?
RAM, or Random Access Memory, is a chip that is inside your computer that stores the information that is open at that time. When you open an application, that application resides in RAM. When you quit the application, it's freed from RAM.
How much RAM should I get for my computer?
Always get more RAM for your computer. You can never have too much RAM. Having too much RAM has no detrimental effect, but lack of RAM can cause problems with your computer speed. The most powerful software out there is definitely going to be video editing and gaming software. Those softwares, bar none, use the most CPU power and require high-end CPU, a lot of memory, a big graphics card, so get as much RAM as you can.
How do I know what kind of RAM to put in my machine?
If you go into your computer and check the system profile, it will generally describe to you the type of memory that is inside that computer. If not you can always check with the salesperson. They'd be more than happy to tell you the type of RAM to get for that computer. There are also online resources that you can go to, to punch in the manufacturer of the type of computer you have, and the model of the computer, and they will specify exactly what type of RAM (memory) you need to get.
How do I choose the best RAM for my computer?
For the best RAM for your computer, I would go with a name brand. You can go with generic brands that don't carry as long a warranty and don't perform as well. Memory problems can manifest themselves in all kinds of ways. It's a really, really bad idea to try to skimp on memory, because that's such a crucial part of your computer's performance. I would stick with name brand RAM such as Kingston, Crucial, Corsair, Nanya, Samsung. Those are all really good brands of RAM and have lower failure rates than generic memory.
What is the difference between SODIMM and DIMM?
SODIMM is a small outline dual inline memory module, and a DIMM is a dual inline memory module. SODIMMs are used in laptops; they're small-factor memory chips. DIMMs are long and are used in desktop computers.
What kind of guarantee does RAM usually carry?
RAM can carry guarantees as low as 9 days and as high as lifetime. You definitely want to buy RAM that comes with a lifetime warranty because you know the manufacturer's standing behind their product. Memory with one year warranty is not that good because the machine may be functioning fine, but if the RAM goes bad after one year, you're going to be stuck with that repair.

Shopping For Your New Computer video

VideoJug: Shopping For Your New Computer

How do I choose the best place to buy my computer?
When selecting the best place to shop for a computer, I would probably ask friends or associates where they've had good experiences. The computers themselves are all the same. You can go to ten different stores if you know the computer that you want. The guts of the computer is the same. What's going to set computer stores apart is the customer service you get: the knowledgeable staff and the service that you receive following that computer purchase. I would go with recommendations from a trusted source.
Where are the best places to do some research about computer stores?
To research computer stores you have to use the internet. Searching on the internet you can find manufacturers that have the best performance records in the industry. For example, Apple and Compact rank high up. To find computer stores in newspapers, you can look in the sports section of the LA Times, or any type of paper, and you will see ads all the time for computer stores. Computers are a really competitive industry so the pricing is not going to change that much. I would talk to the sales people in the stores. If you go to different stores, talk to the sales people and see if you feel comfortable. See if they are knowledgeable, if they know what you want, if they are actually asking you questions and not trying to sell something. Some stores work on commission, some don't, and you don't want someone who is trying to push a computer on you. I like dealing with computer stores where you can talk to people like us who repair machines so we have that standpoint, that experience, to let you know from a repair standpoint how good a machine is. The companies that sell the computer machines are going to hype everything up, but if you have someone who has actually worked on those machines, repaired those machines and knows the repair histories of it, you will be able to make a better decision.
If I have a tight budget, can I still get a good computer?
Definently. For under four hundred dollars you can buy complete systems nowadays including the CPU, the printer and the monitor. Of course, for $399 and up you're not going to get a heavy duty gaming or video editing machine, but for surfing the net or word processing you cant beat it.
Do most computer stores price match?
Generally, not on the computer systems because there's not really any margin on that, but where you can price match is with accessories or warranties, or basically the items that there's more margin so that the salespeople can be more flexible with that.
Should I know technical terms before buying a new computer?
It is very importatnt to know, especially when you are dealing with different stores. If you know the technology then someone can't sell you something that you don't need. There have been a lot of times where people come to me and say, "Yes, look at what I bought. They sold me this," and I have said, "Why did they sell you this? You don't need this for what you are doing. It's a nice system but you spent $1 more than you needed to." They don't know the computer terminology and sometimes get oversold on items they don't need. Therefore, yes, it is important to know technical terms.
Why should I invest in a more powerful computer than I need right now?
If you can buy a computer that is more advanced than what you need, you won't have such an obsolete computer, because technology moves so fast that as soon as you buy something it often seems obsolete. I have people not buying computers because they are afraid that if they buy something today, next week something is going to come out that is better. They are always waiting and never buying anything. If you do buy a computer, if you can buy as much as you can afford, than that computer will last a lot longer for you.

Choosing The Right Computer Processor video

Author: mety Labels::

VideoJug: Choosing The Right Computer Processor

How important is the type of processor in my machine?
The type processor in your computer is important. You don't really have that much of a choice as to what type of processor is in your machine unless you build it yourself. Most PCs come with either an Intel processor or an AMD processor, and Macintosh computers now also come with Intel processors. They previously came with a Power PC chip that was designed by Motorola, but they've transitioned into Intel chips.
How do I know if I need a single or dual processor?
The difference between a single and dual processor is a single processor only has one chip that does all the calculations. The dual processor has two chips that work together. There is a lot of programs that don't take advantage of a dual processor. So, some people buy a dual processor machine thinking that it's going to benefit them, but unless the application that you're running on the computer can take advantage of two processors, you are really spending money in the area that you shouldn't. There are actually some programs that will run faster on a single processor that's running, let's say, two gigahertz than a dual processor running at 1.5 gigahertz because the application needs to be designed to the advantage of that dual processor.
What is the difference between an "Intel" and "AMD" processor?
Intel is the largest chip maker in the world. AMD also makes chips. They're not as famous as Intel, but there's not really much of a difference. Intel is just the big marketer out there, and everybody sees the commercials "Intel Inside." All the Macs now actually run on Intel chips too, so they have a larger share of the market than AMD does, but they're both good chips.
What is the difference between a "Celeron" and "Pentium 4" Processor?
A "Celeron" is a lower end Intel chip. A Celeron is generally in the cheaper, less expensive computers. The "Pentium" chip is the higher end chip, and is made by Intel.
What is "MultiMedia eXtension" (MMX) technology and do I need it?
MultiMedia eXtension technology refers to a set of instructions that come on Intel chips. When they're enabled, the programs that can take advantage of that will be able to run faster. There are not a lot of programs right now that can take advantage of MMX technologies. Right now, it's not really a big deal if your chip does have the MMX instructions set on it, but later on when programs come out, they can take advantage of it. It would be a good idea to get a chip with MMX.
What is a "Centrino" processor?
Centrino is Intel's mobile processor. It is a chip that is found in laptops. It is a high performance, cool running chip, and you will not find it in any desktop machine; only in laptops.
What type of documentation is included with my new computer?
Most of the the documentation is in an electronic format on the computer or it is available online. Manufacturers do this to cut costs. It's just too costly to print all those paper manuals and insert them. But, it's a shame in one sense because a lot of customers do like to have that tangible thing to be able to look something up. Also, if you dont know how to use a computer you are not going to know how to get the online documentation or how to find it on the computer. Sometimes you need something to read, and the computer manufacturers need to realise that documentation is still necessary.

VideoJug: Buying A Laptop Basics

How can I choose a computer that best suits my needs?
Generally the first thing you should do really is ask yourself what you intend to use the computer for. If it is going to be for surfing the internet, e-mails or word processing you won't need that powerful a computer, I wouldn't oversell you with something you don't need. So really I would interview the perspective client and see what they're going to be using it for and find a machine that's really suited to their needs. For someone who is going to be doing photography or gaming then I would recommend a computer with a better graphics card, more memory and a bigger hard drive. Also really important when you are buying a computer is to have some type of backup device. In the repair industry I don't see one day go by that we don't replace hard drives and we sometimes have clients who lose everything and sometimes we are able to recover it all, but the price of a backup device is so small compared to the cost that you can incur if the drive goes bad and you end up doing data recovery.
How important is brand name when it comes to buying computer hardware?
Brand name can typically be pretty important. Some people don't think so. There are a lot of clones out there. Not with Apple, because Apple does make the hardware and the software, so it's a unified system and you have less problems with compatibility, whereas with clones you have parts that have been made by different manufacturers, and when you have an issue, one manufacturer says, "Oh, it's not my problem, it's the other person's device that's causing the problem." And also the reputation comes into play, like Hewlett-Packard, Sony, Apple, Dell--those are all tier 1 large manufacturers. They give you good warranties, they have good customer service. Buying a generic system; if something goes wrong with it, sometimes the hassles that go along with that outweigh any type of financial savings that you may have made.
What is a "clone computer"?
A clone computer is a computer that is not made by a tier one manufacturer i.e. Apple Computer, IBM, Dell. The clone computers have parts that have been manufactured by different companies. So, you could have the case made by one company, the motherboard by one company, the hard drive from someone else. You will get lower prices when buying these, because you can shop and get your own best deal, for each specific part. Some enthusiasts actually do buy their own parts and put all together, and you can actually make a good high end computer that way, if you know what parts you're getting and if you do get higher end parts. But, the problem with clone computers can come with support, because the components are coming from different places. You don't have one place where you can call when you have an issue. Another problem is warranties. If you have a clone machine - because the parts are coming from different sources - the warranties will not apply to every single part; whereas, if you buy a new computer, you'll usually get at least a one year warranty on it and better customer support.
What are the pros and cons of a clone computer?
The pros of a clone computer, first of all, is lower cost. That is the primary reason why people go with clones. Because either the tier one manufacturer's computer is not in their budget, or they're an enthusiast and want to build their own system, and therefore they buy their own parts. The problem with clone computers comes with customer support. You usually don't have one place that you can call. The benefits of the clones, of course, is the cost. If you go with the manufacturer's machine you do pay a little bit more, but you have the piece of mind that if something goes wrong, you have someone that you can call.
Do computers come with monitors?
Generally speaking, computers don't come with monitors. Desk top machines do not come with monitors. Some Macs, for example the iMac, come bundled with a monitor inside it, so when you buy the computer, it does come with a monitor. Obviously all laptops come with displays built into it. There are some bundles you can buy that do come with monitors but generally speaking, computers do not come with monitors and those are peripherals you have to buy additionally.
What factors do I need to consider when buying a notebook computer?
Really, the first thing is the size of the notebook. Because they come from 12 inch screens, 15 inch, 17 inch screens, and that effects the weight of the computers. So screen size, weight, screen resolution comes into play. Some laptops are small, and they don't have any optical drives to burn CD's or DVD's internally, and you'd have to buy an external one if you choose to burn video. Battery life comes into play, generally speaking, the faster the processor is the lower your battery life is going to be because it does use up a lot of power. Also on the display, you can get displays now with glossy screens, ultra-high resolution, they're really geared for video editing, photograpy, gaming, and also, as I mentioned before, RAM is really important, if you're going to buy a laptop, it's always good to bump up the memory, because generally speaking, the manufacterers don't provide enough RAM for the type of applications that are available, especially a lot of multimedia applications. You see how easy it is to make your own videos, and photography and all that, but sometimes consumers don't get the experience they expected because they don't have enough memory in the computer.
In terms of hard drive speed, what does "RPM" mean?
The RPMs are revolutions per minute. Basically, inside the hard drive there are disk platters, and they're rotating just like a record on a record player would. It's rotating really fast, and the faster it rotates the faster the information is transferred from the hard drive to the processor. That in turn increases the read time and the write time on the hard drive, so RPMs are important.
Do most notebook or laptop computers offer integrated wireless Internet?
Most notebooks do offer integrated wireless internet access. Generally, they come with 82.11b and 82.11g cards integrated into the computer. Some of the newer notebooks do come with 82.11n. The 82.11b was the original wireless standard. It later came out with 82.11g, which was a faster wireless card that you really only notice during file sharing between computers. As far as internet access goes, when you are browsing the Web, you will not see much of a difference between 82.11b or 82.11g.
How much battery life can I expect to get with a notebook or laptop computer?
Most manufacturers overstate the battery life. They'll say for example, you'll get about five hours of battery life. However, that's generally with the screen dimmed, power management on, not accessing the hard drive, not playing any DVD movies etc. So typically, between three to five hours on most laptops if the computer is not being used to any great extent. If you have power conservation on, you'll get towards the higher end of that. If you're watching a DVD movie, generally, the battery will only last for about two hours.
Is it a good idea to buy a used laptop?
It's not a good idea to buy a used laptop. The savings that you realize over buying a new laptop can quickly vanish the first time you have a problem. Typically when you buy something used you're not going to get a warrantee on it or a really small window warrantee such as three days. With anything that goes wrong on a laptop, the parts are so small and expensive that it's really labor intensive thing to get in there and replace them. It's not a good idea to buy a used laptop.
What basic factors affect the overall speed of my computer?
The speed of your computer is primarily determined by the speed of your CPU, which is the central processing unit. It's the brain of the computer. The speed of the computer is measured in gigahertz. Gigahertz means billions of cycles per second. The faster the gigahertz, the faster the computer is able to make calculations per second.

VideoJug: How To Get The Best Deal On A PC
How To Get The Best Deal On A PC
This films shows you how to get the best deal on a PC, explaining your options on the high street and online.
Step 1:
Work out what you need
First, work out what you'll need from your computer. The areas to look at are processor type and speed, memory, hard disk space and graphics cards. You may also want to consider how big a monitor you'd like as these are usually bundled in with a PC. For more information about what to look for when buying a computer, please watch our Ask The Expert Film "Buying a computer".The internet allows you to compare prices without leaving your home. We're going to look at the three main routes or buying a computer online: The High Street retailer with a website, the specialist retailer and online auction sites. We'll also talk about price comparison websites.
Step 2:
High street retailers
High Street retailers publish their prices on their websites, so you can check them out at home. They tend to be slightly more expensive than specialized internet retailers, but the advantage is that you can walk down to their shop and buy the product there and then without having to worry about shipping costs and making sure someone's home to sign for the thing when it arrives. Consider these factors when comparing prices online.
Step 3:
Specialist retailers
The second place to try are specialist retailers. The most famous online PC stockist is Dell, but you can also find computers on popular online shops like Amazon and manufactures like Sony sell their computers online. Be aware that although online stores aren't limited by floor space, they may only stock computers from certain manufactures for commercial reasons, so your choice may be limited. Also look out for VAT and shipping charges which may not be listed with the initial costs of you product.
Step 4:
Online auction sites
Finally, online auction sites such as eBay have a wide selection of both second hand and new computers for sale and there are certainly some bargains to be had, but despite the measures online auction sites have in place to protect buyers it can still be risky buying devices as complex as computers second hand. Carefully read the description of the item and study the seller's feedback. When your computer arrives, test it as thoroughly as you can and if there are any problems, follow the auction site's dispute process. For more information about online actions, watch our Videojug film "How to buy on eBay".
Step 5:
Price comparison sites
Also look at price comparison sites like http://www.kelkoo.com/ and http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/.. Their searches are divided into technical categories, so research your desired computer first and then check that specific model on these sites to avoid confusion.

My Email to Mrs Christiane Amanpour Regarding Muslim God Warriors series

Author: mety Labels::

Dear Mrs Christiane Amanpour,

I have watched your report about God Warriors, and I paid special attention to the segment about Muslim God Warriors, I really admire the amount of finest efforts that you and your team put in this report.

Let me introduce myself first; I'm an Egyptian Muslim Web Designer woman, living and working In Egypt.
This is some of my observation and Comment on this report.

First Hijab is something that all the Muslim women have to wear it is not out of modesty, and it is not a sign of humiliation or man domination, and not every woman wear Hijab in Egypt or any part of the world is an Extremist.

When you were talking about the women of Egypt you did not mention anything about how much Egyptian Women accomplished in society and in all the Arab world by working not just in Egypt but in almost every Arab Country, and that we work in every aspect of live and all of this has come from our Islamic believe, and the majority of Egyptian Men and Women are Moderates.

And it is not true that the association of "Muslim Brotherhood" has the majority in Egypt political or otherwise , most of the people who supported them in the last election did that to make the government feel they frustration from Economic situation not because the people believe or convinced of the association believes and philosophy.

In the Jewish Warriors segment you have interviewed both the Extremist and Moderates but in Egypt Segment you have only shown the Extremist point of view and that come across like this is the opinion of the majority of the Egyptian, and again the majority of Egyptian Men and Women are Moderates,
For centuries Jewish, Christen and Muslim lived together in harmony in Egypt this come from Egypt nature.

You have talked about the Influence of Egyptians Extremist on Osama Ben laden, but you did not mention how all of Egypt Suffer from their actions and how many people have they killed in Egypt.
And you didn't mention any thing about the finest Efforts made by Egyptians men and women in enriching the essence of every aspect of human life not only in the Arab Countries by in the world for thousand of years.

You have used the term "Jihadest" on the Muslim Extremist, but this is a misuse of the word "Jihad"
"Jihad" is derived from the word "Juhd" which means exerting one's utmost efforts, which are divided into two forms,
The first is the effort made by one's soul and the second is the effort made in fighting a just and righteous war. The first strenuous effort that is made is titled the Greater Jihad, by which one endeavors to repel all evil, to be brought into the grace of God. The other form of Jihad is known as the Lesser Jihad, and it means fighting a just and righteous war.
A righteous, just war according to the laws of Islam is a war of defense, the aim of which is to repel the enemy's attack or assault, and the following Qur'anic verses permit Muslims to fight the enemy who attacks them: "To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged". [22/39] Also:
"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits, for God does not love transgressors". [2/190] This Qur'anic verse proves that despite the permission to fight in self-defense, the Muslim was warned not to go beyond defending themselves to the extent of transgression. The following Qur'anic verse permits the Muslims to attack those who attack them: "If then anyone transgresses the prohibition against you transgress likewise against him", [2/194].

And therefore you cannot call Muslim Extremist a "Jihadest"

Author: mety Labels::

i was searching for way use Google to find torrent and here what i have found
Just add “filetype:torrent torrent name” in google before your keywords and google will find the torrent. So if you’re searching for a “Ebooks” torrent you should type something like this:
filetype:torrent Ebooks

than i found that the search result will more accurate if you
just follow the steps below
Google to
http://www.google.com/
Enter “filetype:torrent ” [Replace with torrents name]
Hit Search Button

one more way you can use Digg Torrents because they found a way to use Google to search for and download torrent files this site name used to be Google Torrents but they still use the same search technique
